Kicking off January with a theme
All about comfort, elevating the everyday + a vision board for the month
Happy New Year! Our holiday decor is down and we’ve eased into our fresh start mindset, getting back into our daily routines and adapting to new ones. This maybe an unpopular opinion but I love new years — not for the parties or expectation to do something special to close out a year, I actually don’t remember the last time I stayed up until midnight on New Year’s Eve. I love it for the fresh start, closing one chapter and starting another one. I love reflecting on everything we as a family accomplished, overcame or struggled with and thinking about what we want to “put on the list” for the next year. I have a whole exercise I do to close out the year and recap it, while making “intentions” for the new year in a very casual noncommittal way, I love a recap, a list and making a plan so it’s a fun process for me. I always did a version of this as an adult but made it more of a thing when I left the corporate world because I no longer was having “year end reviews” where I would get evaluated based on goals that are set for the year. So this is my version as a stay at home mom & small business owner, to set intentions, recap them at the close of the year and reflect / acknowledge myself for what I’ve accomplished and learned.
My personal word for 2025 is harmonize
I picked this word based off of words Morgan Harper Nichols shared: “Remember: there is room for both your efforts and your rest, and you don’t have to choose only one or the other. As seasons change, the way things come together may change, and that’s okay. There is still room to create new music, anyway.”
I’ve written about this before, but one of my focuses for this year, is releasing and letting go when I can. Harmonizing all aspects of my life, the must do things that are a part of life and the things I *need* to make more time for. In the past, I would put off the workout, writing, or just investing time in myself to do what I *want* because it was never a priority. This year I’m working on rewiring myself to focus on the fun stuff that I truly enjoy and will get to the tasks at some point. The dishes can wait, the chores will always be there, the work of the day to day isn’t going away. Making time for what I enjoy and fills my cup is important, and finding a balance of getting done what I need to while also saving time to do what I enjoy is doable. *repeats to myself constantly*
The Theme for January
This month for me is all about comfort, slowing down, being comfortable in my own skin, consistency and routine. It’s almost like a slow start to the new year, no heroics are taking place over here and I’m 100% good with that. I’m focusing this month on comfortability from what I’m wearing, doing, feeling, eating & reading. And maybe even pushing myself to be comfortable with things I never would’ve been in the past (hello, content creation!).
Do you create vision or mood boards? I love making them, it’s so easy to do now that Pinterest has collage capabilities and because I’m a visual person it’s fun to pull together a board of what’s inspiring you or using it to visualize what you want to (do, plan, see etc.). I made a mood board for the month of January - sharing looks, spaces, and words that are inspiring me right now. Let me know what you think!
Elevating The Everyday
I spent some time purging and organizing my house over the break and I have to say it feels really good. I reorganized my closet and started pulling together outfits for the month and decided I’m going to stick to a theme in how I’m dressing or *trying* to. I set an outfit formula for myself so that when I’m trying to figure out what to wear I can reference this if I don’t already have my looked picked out.
Everyday outfit formula (which typically is school drop off/pick up, errands, kid activities etc.) — loose, comfy jeans or pants, sweater or sweatshirt with boots or sneakers, paired with a fitted wool jacket or oversized coat. Are there days that I just want to wear leggings and don’t feel like wearing a jean, YES! And I still will wear leggings but my challenge to myself is to elevate the everyday and make a more casual outfit a tad more special by adding a little something. Follow along on my instagram (@bridgetcurates) where I’m sharing easy everyday outfits that are wearable and comfortable and hopefully offer some outfit inspiration during a month we all could use some.

Until next time, friends!
